I am an resident manager and fell from the 2nd story stairs and landed in fetal position would I have a case?

my building has 22 stairs and I landed in fetal position from missing a step from the stairs the owner had gaven me order to turn off the lights in the building in order to conserve him electrical bill so I do as I am told little did I know I was not to do this was illegal by city inspectors due to this fall I fractured my ankle and wrist by trying to stop from rolling the stairs. He has already been sued by prior tenants for being a SLUMLORD but know I am scared to see if I have a case due that he will retaliate on me and aske me to resign or evict me and I have never had an evivtion in my life I dont know what to do???: by the way I am still in pain from my back to ankles and wrist.
