Polybius and Roman government?
Polybius describes Roman government as being an ideal mix of Monarchy, Oligarchy, and Democracy. The Greeks had another clification for government, called "Timocracy," which was driven by aristocratic competition for honors. Why might this be a better model for understanding the Republic than those Polybius proposes?
